What does the Traffic Button Do?

The Traffic button provides information from radio stations in your area that broadcast RDS(Radio Data System) data. Very few metropolitan areas have radio stations that broadcast an RDS compatible signal. By pressing this button your radio will search for these RDS broadcasts.

A future solution, XM NavTraffic, is designed to fully integrate with the vehicle's on-board navigation system to display current information about traffic incidents and average traffic speed along specific roadways.

Note however that the Traffic button has NO impact or relation to the XM nav traffic. However, this is probably what its intention was during the deisgn of the radio (or for export-japan- verions of this car with a different traffic system). Only the early 2005 Cadillac CTS and Acura RL will offer this option initially.
